Talentime

Talentime is a 2009 Malaysian drama film written & directed by  Yasmin Ahmad. Yasmin, in her blog, mentioned that the idea behind Talentime was that as humans, we have to go through a lot of pain and some measure of suffering before we can reach greater heights. I only got the chance to watch Talentime today after 3 years of release.


Such a beautiful story line where the characters get embroiled in a world of heightened emotions - ambition, love, jealousy, pain, comedy & heartbreak.


This competition has matched 2 hearts - Melur, a Malay mixed Eurasian girl and an Indian male students, Mahesh (hearing impaired). Melur, who is good in singing & playing piano is one of the seven finalist. Hafiz, another finalist sings well & plays the guitar is a new student , dividing his time between school and mother, being hospitalised for brain tumour who dies at end.


Kahoe, a chinese boy from a rich family made through finals. He plays the erhu & resents Hafiz. Kahoe was a top scorer in class till Hafiz comes into the picture. It all started after Mahesh, amongst the students assigned to get the finalist to school for practice & Melur was assigned to him.

Life's too short

It had been two years since I stopped blogging. 

So so so, I'm gonna start again with my first post about life!!

Feel free to comment anything you like or dislike about!

Life will break you.

Nobody can protect you from that,

and living alone won't either,

for solitude will also break you with its yearning.

You have to love.

You have to feel.

You have to forgive & forget.

It is the reason you are here on earth.

You are here to risk your heart.

You are here to be swallowed up.

And when it happens that you're broken,

or betrayed, or left, or hurt, or death brushes near,

let yourself sit by an apple tree & listen to the

apples falling all around you.

Tell yourself you tasted

as many as you could!

People aren't born good or bad.

Maybe they're born with tendencies either way,

but its the way you live your life that matter.

So, don't hate those who behaves badly towards you. 

Be nice towards them, maybe in future,

they'll realize their mistakes!
